Srinagar, Sep 28 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday said there is no proposal to start OPD services at the upcoming Government Medical College (GMC) campus in Dialgam, Anantnag, and that the proposed 249-bedded Mother and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) at Janglat Mandi remains pending for financial clearance.
In a written reply to a question by MLA Anantnag West Abdul Majid Bhat (Larmi) in the Assembly, the Health and Medical Education Department, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said OPD services are presently being provided through the associated hospital of GMC Anantnag and no proposal is under consideration to shift these services to the main GMC campus at Dialgam.
The government also ruled out any proposal to relocate the TB Hospital to Rehmat-e-Alam Hospital.
On the proposed 249-bedded MCCH at Janglat Mandi, the department said the DPR was submitted to the Finance Department for sanction under NABARD loan assistance. However, the proposal was returned pending clarification from NABARD on funding ceilings for 2026-27. The project will be considered subject to enhanced allocation and availability of funds.
The reply further said the newly constructed NTPHC building at Sadoora has remained under the occupation of security forces since 2021. The matter has been taken up with the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, for early retrieval of the facility.
The government said the AAM/SC Dispensary at Zodder continues to function from rented accommodation. Land identification for construction of a dedicated building is underway, after which a DPR and funding proposal will be prepared.
Regarding SDH Achabal, the department said no proposal for its upgradation is under consideration. However, a DPR for a new G+3 hospital building costing Rs 52.14 crore has been prepared. The cost estimate was found to be unrealistic, while a safety audit of the existing hospital building is underway.
The department said the feasibility of the project has to be assessed as construction of the proposed facility would require dismantling the existing structure.
Similarly, no proposal for further development of PHC Qazigund is under consideration at present. The government said a committee of experts will first assess the structural stability and viability of the existing building before any decision is taken—(KNO)
